Over the course of more than 20 years, Lazar Ran produced a series of intensely emotional graphic pieces that make up the Minsk Ghetto collection. Ran created a visual story that depicts the pain, imprisonment, and loss that Jews in the Minsk Ghetto went through during the Holocaust using methods like etching and subsequently lithography. The piece is based on his personal tragedy because several members of his family were killed in the ghetto, even though he was not physically present there. The pictures are intended to be symbolic and psychological depictions of loss and remembrance rather than precise historical records. When seen as a whole, the collection is a potent creative testament to both individual grief and the wider devastation of Jewish life in Eastern Europe. Nearly all of these artworks were donated to the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center. 

While the artwork was in my families possession, it was never properly scanned. During the transportation of the artwork, for the purposes of Border Patrol, scans were made of each individual peace of art. While these were not the best quality, they are the best that are available. Some are better then others. 

The following two pieces of work are currently missing. Although we have their documentation, we do not know their location. It is possible they were donated by Boris Tsynman, but their location is currently unknown.
